My story

Sandie is a two-year-old spayed female, medium sized and weighing about 59 pounds. Her outstanding feature is her gorgeous sable brown fur coat - she practically glows in the sunlight! (see photos). She also has the cutest wrinkled forehead and muzzle - almost like a Shar Pei. At first, she can seem a bit timid, but once away from the shelter she craves your affection - and is very polite about it. She loves to lay her head in your lap and soak up all the hugs and petting she can. She also loves a good brushing and sits perfectly still for it. Getting into the car: it's important to note that Sandie does not jump up in the car, she crawls up into the back seat - almost like she is climbing a ladder and it is hilarious to watch! First her front paws on the seat, then her back legs carefully climb up on the floorboard and then she shimmies on up into the backseat - it is so cute! On a walk, she keeps an easy pace with a loose leash. She was somewhat interested in other walkers and runners, but in a "Hi, I'm adorable - don't you want to pet me?" kind of way. Sandie is reactive to squirrels, but easily redirected back to the walk. Sandie does very well in public too; content to sit beside you at the coffee shop and indulge in a pup cup. Sandie is so affectionate and gentle natured - we believe she would be a great companion for any family. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sandie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
