My story

Fred is a compact bundle of joy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s the kind of pup who will keep you laughing with his antics, curl up beside you for a cozy nap, and wake up each morning with a tail-wagging zest for life. If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who loves to be near his person, Fred might just be your guy. Fred gets along with other dogs in passing, but he’s not one to share the spotlight. He has shown some resource guarding behaviors around food, toys, and even his favorite humans, so he would thrive best as the only dog in the home. He doesn't seem to mind cats, but hasn’t had much close interaction with them yet. Fred is super friendly with adults but hasn't been around children yet. Because he loves to grab and chew on things (and we mean everything), a home without children is best. This guy is a chewer – corners, cords, toys, blankts, you name it – so he’ll need a home that can manage his curious, chompy nature with chew-safe toys and supervision. He’s still working on house training and marking behavior, and he wears a belly band indoors. Hopefully his neuter will help with this. Fred is crate-trained for short periods and is slowly learning basic commands like "sit" and "wait." He enjoys short walks and does well on leash, though he’s still unsure about doorways, so patience and encouragement go a long way. Fred is affectionate without being clingy – the perfect mix of velcro and independent. He’ll happily nap nearby or climb on you for a cuddle, but he’s not overly needy. Just don’t be surprised if he makes himself the center of attention – he’s that kind of guy! If you're ready for a quirky, loving, and downright funny companion, Fred is ready to be your one-and-only.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Fred, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
