My story

Meet Emory! This lovely little lady has been through a lot, but you’d never know it from how happy she is today. Emory was surrendered to a local shelter by her previous owner after being diagnosed with CUPS - a painful and chronic inflammatory condition called canine ulcerative paradental stomatitis. It causes the tissues in a dog’s mouth to become severely irritated by the presence of their own teeth. Yep, it’s as awful as it sounds, and poor Emory was in a lot of discomfort.Thankfully, the shelter reached out to us, and we stepped in to help. The best treatment option for CUPS is full-mouth dental extraction, and Emory handled her surgery like a champ. Now that her teeth are gone, the pain is gone too, and she’s thriving! She may drool a bit more than your average pup, but that’s about it.CUPS is a lifelong condition, but once the teeth are removed, many dogs do incredibly well, just like Emory. She doesn’t need daily medication, just regular checkups to make sure everything stays healthy inside her mouth. Soft food is a must, but other than that, her care is simple.Personality-wise, Emory is a total star. She’s playful, loves other dogs, and adores being around her people. She’s affectionate, cuddly, and a little bit goofy in the best way. She makes the funniest faces and has an expressive little soul that makes everyone fall in love. Emory has already overcome so much, and now she’s ready to start her next chapter with someone who will appreciate just how special she is. Think that might be you? Please inquire today!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Emory *special needs*, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
