My story

Ella is a 14-week-old German Shepherd/Elkhound mix who loves cuddles and giving kisses! Weighing in around 15 lbs now, this sweet girl is happiest when she's soaked from puddles and surrounded by her favorite people.Ella is crate-trained (though she prefers to be with her humans) and getting close to being fully house-trained. She’s still working on asking to go out and may have accidents, especially when excited — a normal part of puppy life! Because she's still training and very much prefers to have people around, a home where someone is frequently present — or one with regular playtime and potty breaks — would be ideal. She LOVES to play with other dogs and has enormous amounts of energy. She plays well and would be happiest in a home with a canine sibling to help burn off her big puppy energy. She loves kids (ages 1–13), though her excitement sometimes knocks over the tiniest humans. She does not have experience with cats.Ella loves squeaky toys and chasing tennis balls. She gets a lot of exercise and does well with walks and running around a fenced-in yard. She would run around every where all day long if she could! A fenced-in yard would be preferred to help with her zoomies, but this is not necessary if given enough enrichment time. She does well on a leash in the community.Ella is ready to grow up with a loving family who understands that high-energy pups need structure, patience, and lots of love. Whether she’s splashing through rain puddles or curling up for belly rubs after a zoomie session, Ella is ready to bring joy, laughter, and plenty of wet kisses to her forever home!If you are interested in Ella, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $550. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ella, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
