My story

*Adoption visits are by appointment only** If you see an animal you`re interested in, fill out an adoption questionnaire on our website https://everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet*Meet Summer!Summer is a resilient and affectionate 4-month-old female kitten looking for her forever home. Despite her early challenges, Summer has shown incredible strength and a loving spirit that will surely melt your heart.Medical History:Summer came to us as a stray kitten and has undergone significant medical care to ensure she is healthy and ready for adoption. She was found in a lake, hypothermic and hypoglycemic, with signs of an upper respiratory infection (URI) and a congenital deformity in her left hind leg. After thorough examinations and treatments, it was determined that her left hind leg needed amputation. On June 25, 2025, Summer underwent a successful spay surgery and right hindquarter amputation. She has since been recovering well, with her incision mostly healed and only a small scab remaining. Summer has received her last set of vaccines and is now ready to find her new family.Personality:Summer is a playful and curious kitten who loves to explore her surroundings. She has adapted well to her new situation and is learning to navigate with her three legs. Summer enjoys cuddling and will purr contentedly when held. She is also very social and gets along well with other cats.Special Needs:Due to her amputation, Summer will need a home that can accommodate her mobility needs. She may require some adjustments, such as low-entry litter boxes and accessible spaces to ensure she can move around comfortably. Regular vet check-ups will be important to monitor her health and ensure she continues to thrive.Fun Fact:Did you know that animals with three legs, like Summer, can often adapt remarkably well and lead happy, active lives? In fact, many three-legged animals can run, play, and even win races against their four-legged counterparts! Why Adopt Summer?Summer`s journey is a testament to her resilience and loving nature. She has overcome significant challenges and is now ready to bring joy and companionship to a loving home. If you are looking for a sweet and courageous kitten to join your family, Summer is the perfect choice.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Summer, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
