My story

sweet small boy seeking fresh start and love! LUKAS NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Lukas and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (08/03) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in XXX (3351 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA 22305)!   Name: Lukas      Best Guess for Breed:  Papillon mix Best Guess for Age:  6 years as of July 2025       SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight:   16 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  Puerto Rico shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here.    Special adoption considerations:  Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure they can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.   Lukas is Looking For:This sweetie, about six years old, was found in the middle of a main road in a Puerto Rican town. It's supremely uncool that he ended up alone there but he's closed that chapter and is eager for his new one. The one where he loves and is loved back. The one where he trots by his human on sniffy walks and adventures, and then gets to snuggle after a fun day together. Most of all, the one where he's safe under his own roof every time the sun sets, a cherished part of his family. He has so much to offer in exchange - adoring gazes and loyal companionship. Will you be the lucky recipient? What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has spent time in foster care in the DC area Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at      www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!! Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs! To learn about fostering, please contact fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org! BE A SPONSOR!!!! Sponsors help Lucky Dog support the many dogs we save. To learn more about sponsorship, please contact     info@luckydoganimalrescue.org   ! August 1, 2025, 6:00 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lukas, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
