My story

SassyOh, hello there. I guess you are reading my interview because, as of August 5, I began living in an amazing foster home! I was surrendered to the HSHC on July 10 due to allergies in the family. I am an 8-year-old dilute Calico, meaning grey, white, and buff, and I have already been spayed. My front paws were declawed years ago. You may notice my ears are somewhat crumpled. This is due to multiple ear infections and my scratching, which has caused blood blisters and scar tissue. Additionally, I have no tail, which the interviewer lady (IL) says adds to my charm. However, no one explained how this happened, and I can`t tell you. The HSHC treated me for the ear infections, and they have resolved. The first few days of living in my foster home were traumatic for me. I spent my time hiding under and inside the frame of a couch! My foster parents understood that this was my `safe space`. They even removed the fabric lining of the sofa, allowing me to enter and exit more easily. My food, water, and litterbox were right next to my retreat. So convenient! If they gave me a few pieces of dried food, I would reach out with my paw and just slide them under the couch without showing my face. They told me I was one smart cat. My 11-year-old human foster sister gave me treats, and I became more trusting. I`ve been eating, drinking, and using the litterbox with regularity. I have learned that exploring the house and being more vocal about my needs can make life more pleasurable. I believe the 5-year-old son is a smidge too active and unpredictable to be comfortable with him. I enjoy being petted, but I`m not a lap cat at this time. Before I left for the foster home, I spent some time with the IL. I let her pet me all over and cuddled up next to her. I was so happy for the attention, I even licked her arm. I am hoping to find my forever home very soon. I`m looking for an owner who can understand my needs and be patient with me as I adjust to a new environment. 8-18-25
