My story

Rukia looks like an oil painting, doesn't she? This beautiful cat found herself in the shelter setting on July 21st. She shut down and refused to eat. She became more and more withdrawn despite the best efforts of the staff. In her 5 days at the shelter, Rukia had not eaten. We saw their plea for help so we connected with them and offered Rukia a safe place to land and decompress.    An important part of our mission statement is to intercept animals from being lost to the shelter system. The workers there are deeply compassionate but their hands are tired in many ways when an animal shuts down. We were impressed to learn that plans were in place for a staff member to take Rukia home for the weekend to give her the extra care and quiet she is needing. Had we not picked her up Friday afternoon, she would be having a sleepover with a shelter employee.    That's the extra mile, ya'll. Thank you Marion County Animal Services for always going the extra mile for the animals and for us. Rukia even had bloodwork drawn (results pending) prior to being picked up. We look forward to watching this kid come out of her shell.    Located in Ocala FL ##2473223##
