My story

In the words of her foster mom - "Larissa is a mystery!" With her long fur and Maine Coon characteristics, Larissa is a 7 year old beauty. With the people she trusts in a calm environment, 90-95% of the time Larissa has a sweet personality that matches her beautiful looks. 5-10% of the time a switch seems to flip - for seemingly no reason something upsets her, and she goes into attack mode - hissing and swatting if you try to interact with her. When those salty traits come out, it is best to just leave her alone. Usually in as short as 5-10 minutes, she is back to her sweet self. When she is sweet, Larissa is a wonderful companion to those she trusts. She loves to follow you around and be a part of your activities. She is happy to be petted and will sit next to you or on your lap. Larissa is particular about who she likes and will choose her person/people. She definitely does NOT like other cats. She gets very aggitated when she sees a feral cat outside the window of her foster home, and will stalk that cat from the inside. Even the smell of other cats will set her off. If you have shoes or clothes worn while interacting with other cats, it is best to remove them before interacting with Larissa. We have not tested Larissa with dogs, but believe it would be best not to attempt that combination. Larissa's ideal environment would seem to be a high rise apartment, where there is no possibility of any cat sightings out of the windows. She needs one or two adult caregivers with no other pets, who live a quiet lifestyle and will accept her for who she is - enjoy her when she is sweet, and leave her alone when she gets salty. We are looking for an experienced cat parent with no other pets and no plans to get other pets, who is willing to take on the Larissa mystery, let her live out her years in peace, and accept whatever unfolds. Will you give this girl a chance? The adoption fee for special needs cats has been reduced to $55. All cats are up to date on shots, microchipped, dewormed, fixed, and FeLV/FIV tested.
