My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Also celebrating International Blind Dog Day is Missy! Missy is a 11- year old Shih Tzu who has been through a lot! She is currently being fostered by Dr. Angela Serevetas! Read below to see what Dr. Angela has written about this amazing dog, and see how you can adopt her!!! Meet Missy, a special soul in search of a forever home. Missy is an 12 year old Shih Tzu with a gentle spirit and an incredible amount of love even after all she has been through. A few months ago, she was brought in for euthanasia. After talking with her owner, it was clear that this sweet girl still had so much life to live – she just needed someone to advocate for her. I quickly let her know I will not euthanize her and instead offered to help find her a new home instead. Thankfully, her owner agreed, and within an hour, the amazing team at Rescue Ridge stepped up to welcome her with open arms. Missy has been living with me since May, and watching her transformation has been nothing short of heartwarming. The pictures in themselves speak volume on her progress. Originally, she was severely matted and covered in feces and debris I had no choice but to shave her down completely. She came to me suffering from severe, untreated eye issues. Her right eye was so damaged it had to be removed – just like her left eye had to years ago. Within 2 hours of me removing her eye, she was already so much more comfortable and happier. Blind and mostly deaf, Missy still navigates her world with impressive confidence. She gets along beautifully with my dogs, cats, and all of my young nieces and nephews. She finds her way around my house very well. Despite all she’s endured, Missy is endlessly sweet, incredibly loving, and remarkably resilient. She also loves to cuddle. She will need a patient and attentive person who can help her safely navigate her surroundings. A calm home where someone is around most of the time would be ideal for her. Missy isn’t a low maintenance dog but she is absolutely worth the extra care. Please apply to adopt Missy at rescueridge.com and if your application is a possible match a volunteer will get back to you shortly. No inquiries, please, without an adoption application.         Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 24, 2025, 10:47 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Missy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
