My story

Breed: Lab mix Sex: male Age: 11 weeks (estimated dob 3/2/25) Weight: 10 lbs Medical Needs: Boone will need a rabies shot at approximately 6 months. He needs to be neutered. This appointment will be scheduled through Grass Roots Rescue. Neuter appointments can be requested for Georgetown, Dover, Wilmington or Newark. Foster to adopt families must live within an hour of one of the locations listed above, and must be willing to travel there for the appointment. A required $75 check must be submitted by adopter, which Grass Roots Rescue will hold and then destroy once neuter is verified. Boone will be ready to go to his forever home after his booster shot on 7/27. Housebroken: Boone is just a baby. He will go when walked outside but will have accidents. Due to his age, Boone can not be left alone for a full work day. He will either need someone that works from home, or has a solid plan in place for each day they work. Crate trained: Boone will enter his crate for a treat, he also takes toys into his crate to play with them it’s his safe place. Boone will express his displeasure of being left alone but quickly settles. Good in the car: Yes! He will snuggle up and sleep. Good on a leash: Everyday is better! Energy Level: High puppy energy but will crash once he gets his energy out. Need a fenced in yard: No, if there is no fence he will need to be leash walked. Dog Friendly: Yes, he gets along with all other dogs. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its new home? No Cat friendly: Boone piles on top of a cat and SMOTHERS them in puppy love and kisses! He’s also good about understanding what the murder mitts mean, and backing off, so he hasn’t gotten any battle scars yet. Kid Friendly: Yes! If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any with supervision. Please keep in mind puppies have sharp little teeth and nails. He will need to be taught hands and toes are not toys. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Sweet Boone knows how to use his puppy dog eyes to his advantage! This pup earned his freedom ride to Delaware from North Carolina. His sweet face, sad puppy eyes and unique brindle markings make him so handsome. Boone is more reserved - he will pancake if you reach for him, move to the back of his crate when you open it but if you give him a minute to warm up he quickly runs out to greet you. He is getting braver every day but font be surprised if hes shy when he arrives somewhere new. This little man is curious and likes to investigate his surroundings, he is a great snuggler and very playful. Boone is a young puppy, he needs a family that will understand he is going to chew on things he probably shouldn’t and work with him on basic commands and training. Boone will need a home that won’t give in to his puppy dog eyes and will teach him how to be the best boy as he grows up. Fosters Location: Smyrna, DE Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app. ##2453689##
