My story

Current Location: Mechanicsville, VA Meet Bunny Bunny is a beautiful 4-month-old pup with a soft, creamy coat and the gentlest soul. Her records list her as a possible Australian Shepherd or Anatolian Shepherd mix, but whatever her lineage, she’s pure sweetness through and through. Energy and Personality Bunny is a laid-back puppy who brings a peaceful energy to the home. She’s still learning all about the world, and while she enjoys exploring and chewing on the occasional toy (or not-a-toy), she approaches life with curiosity and calm. Training and Behavior Her foster mom noticed that Bunny wasn’t responding to voices or noises, and some simple at-home tests suggest that she may have hearing loss. She’ll be seeing a vet soon to get a professional opinion. In the meantime, her foster is starting to work with hand signals and gentle communication techniques. Bunny is very smart and observant, and she’s already trying to understand what’s being asked of her. She’s not a big fan of the crate or pen right now - most likely because she’s a little unsure of them. Her foster is gently helping her adjust by offering meals and treats in those spaces, though Bunny isn’t especially treat-motivated (yet!). Social Life Bunny is incredibly gentle and affectionate. She hasn’t met many other dogs or children yet, but her personality suggests she would be a calm and loving companion for a kind family. She’s learning to trust, and once she feels safe, she leans in for connection. Quirks and Special Traits Her hearing challenges might present a learning curve, but Bunny is already showing resilience and adaptability. She’ll thrive in a patient home where someone is willing to grow alongside her, using visual cues, routines, and gentle guidance. Her softness and spirit make her easy to fall in love with. Best Home Fit Bunny would love a quiet home where someone is around often to help her build confidence and continue her training. She’ll need patience, understanding, and lots of love - but she’ll give all of that back in return. Whether or not her hearing is limited, her heart is wide open. Veterinary Care - Health certificate from recent vet visit - Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations - Spayed - Microchipped - On heartworm prevention - Flea and tick prevention - Dewormed

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bunny, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
