My story

Hi, my name is Chives! If you’ve been wanting some fresh garden herbs this summer, a sprinkle of Chives is the perfect addition! My foster moms describe me as curious, adventurous, energetic, playful, and a real team player. I love my foster sibling so much, as well as all the big cats in my foster home—I’m always happy to play wrestle, chase them around, or snuggle up together. I can be independent, and clearly I’ve been in therapy because I’m skilled at setting boundaries! But I love curling up for a nap near my humans or coming up to say hello with my loud purr. I have a favorite fluffy bed and there’s nothing better than stretching out there for an evening nap! I can be very sweet and snuggly, I just like to do that on my terms. You’ll know when I’m ready for some cuddles, because I’ll climb right on top of you for attention. I also like to be close by but still able to have my “me time,” like being on the very top of a tall cat tree while in the same room as you. My foster moms say I can be silly as I sometimes like to follow them around and play bap their legs, or zoom around in the bathtub when no one is using it. Other things I enjoy are gazing out the window, eating snacks, sticking my paws under the bathroom door when it’s occupied, sitting in front of the tv to watch shows with you, and helping humans scoop the litter box. My humans have had me since I was one day old (!) and think I deserve the very best home with humans to play with me, friends to wrestle, places to climb and perch, and respectful affection. My humans say that life is never dull with me around and that I make them laugh every day. I’ve been told I’m very special, because I have something called pectus excavatum, which means my chest is shaped a little weirdly. But it’s improved as I’ve gotten big and strong, and it doesn’t slow me down at all! In fact, I may be the fastest kitten to ever zoom through their home! We require that kittens be adopted with a sibling or go to a home that already has another young companion animal. If you already have a young animal or another kitten in your home, great! If not, Chives will need to be adopted with another BKB kitten. The adoption fee for a kitten is $250. For a pair, the adoption fee is $500.
