Mamas - owner surrender due to housingMeet Mamas, a 2-year-old large mixed-breed cuddlebug who was lovingly surrendered when her person lost housing. In the shelter she's equal parts wiggly social butterfly and sensitive homebody-she warms up fast to kind voices and gentle handling, and then leans in for all the pets.My ideal homeA calm, adult-only home that will give Mamas time to decompress and stick to a predictable routine. She benefits from slow introductions, positive-reinforcement training, and confidence-building outings. Elevators/stairs can worry her, so patience and treats go a long way.Good with Kids?Adult-only (no children under 13). Mamas can be fearful and jumpy when excited and needs low-pressure handling.Good with other pets?Mamas has shown hard barking/growling toward unfamiliar dogs and can be reactive in close quarters (especially returning to kennel). We recommend she be the only pet while she builds skills. If you have a resident dog, ask us about a slow, structured meet. No dog parks. (Cats: unknown.)Leash MannersSweet companion on quiet "sniffy" walks. She may plant/pancake or balk-especially near other dogs or when heading back inside-but responds to distance, encouragement, and tasty rewards. She loves greeting familiar people and will happily wiggle over for scritches.Overall healthSpayed 8/12/25, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.Vet noted a healed alopecia/scar patch on her back and mild dental tartar.Recent tummy upset and a brief limp have resolved; she's currently bright, wiggly, and feeling good at ~56 lbs.Behavior determination & other notesLevel 3.Potential challenges to support with reward-based training:Fearfulness/handling sensitivity: let her choose to approach; pair touch with treats.On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration: create space, use a front-clip harness, reward check-ins.Resource guarding (food/treats/toys): trade-up games; don't take items directly from her mouth.House training: previously used pads and had accidents-frequent outdoor breaks, management, and praise will help.Separation anxiety/alone time: she'll do best with a patient routine and gradual departures.Fun factsPhoto-shoot pro: she even wore a wig for pics-what a sport!Certified people-person: rubs under your legs and leans in for cuddles.Low-key at home, happy for quiet couch time between short walks. If your household is calm, dog-savvy, and ready to cheer on a sensitive, affectionate young pup, Mamas will repay you with wiggles, loyalty, and endless snuggles. Come meet her at ACC! Primary Color: Red Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 56.5 Age: 2yrs 2mths 1wks
