My story

Hi, Future Family! My name is Dobby—yes, like the house elf! While I may look like him, I’m actually a proud Xoloitzcuintli (that’s “sho-low-eats-QUEENT-lee,” if you’re wondering!). I have a heart full of love and a passion for snuggling. I'm about 1 year old. I absolutely adore being close to my humans and love to play with toys. I get along great with two out of the three dogs in my foster home and am kid-friendly too! Recently I have learned to tolerate all the dogs in my home, but when I'm on the couch relaxing, I don't appreciate another dog coming to share my snuggles. I have met a cat and don't have any issues with them, but you do know cats are weirdos. Because I’m a hairless breed, my skin needs some special care to keep me happy and healthy. Here are a few things my future family should know: Bathing Hairless Xolos like me need regular baths—but not too often—to remove dirt and oil and prevent acne. A good rule of thumb is every 1–4 weeks, depending on the climate and my skin’s needs. Moisturizing After a bath, I’ll need a dog-safe moisturizer to keep my skin from drying out. Sun Protection I’m prone to sunburn, especially since I’m light-skinned—so a pet-safe sunscreen is important when I’m outside in the sun. Acne Management Like a teenager, I might get a little acne now and then. That can usually be managed with gentle cleaning and vet-recommended wipes or creams if needed. I’m also doing well with potty training and continue to improve every day. Whether your home is calm or busy, I’ll be happy as long as I have people to cuddle with. I’ll come fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $350.
