Mako was rescued from the euthanasia list at a local animal shelter. He was a bitey McBitey Face, hence his shark name! Mako is actually a very snuggly, playful, lovebug in the home. He will, however, be very clear that he does not like something! He does not want anything going near his face, like a muzzle or a harness that goes over the head. He will not use the crate. This is extremely stressful for him. Mako does okay with some dogs, but not all. He has done fine with the cats in his past and current foster home. Mako's first foster home had a plethora of small dogs of Mako's size and smaller, as well as cats. They reported he would use the dog door and sometimes pee-pads, and that he got along with all pets in the home. Mako appears to seek attention from people at his own pace, depending on the human. IN his first foster home, he took longer to warm up to the male than he did in his second home. Mako needs a home that will not force him to do something and will respect his communications before he feels he needs to escalate to air snapping. His new family should be willing to work on training the basics with him, as well as "place", "settle", and other useful cues. Mako does the cutest flop onto his human, loves belly rubs, plays fetch and tug, and while he chooses one human in particular, he loves all the humans in his foster home and will snuggle and play with anyone he feels safe with! No kids/grandkids for this pup though! He will need to be put in a separate room with the door closed when children visit. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't forget to follow us on social media for updates on our animals! * Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs, we can only guess at the predominant breed or breed mix. Pawsitive Impact gets to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. * Pawsitive Impact expects all adopted dogs to enroll in a formal positive reinforcement dog training class with their new owners. Training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog and improve your relationship with your pet.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mako, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
