My story

** $885 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** Sadie Girl was found as a stray on July 23rd and has quickly shown herself to be a calm, observant, and sensitive soul. She has a sweet and thoughtful presence and is learning to trust the humans around her. Volunteers and staff have commented on how gentle and composed she is on a leash, and how she prefers to quietly take in the world rather than rush through it. With a little time and a few treats, she warms up beautifully—her eyes soften, her tail starts to wag, and she’ll begin to lean in for affection. She walks well on leash, takes treats gently, and enjoys standing beside you in quiet companionship. Sadie isn’t overly playful at the moment, but she is definitely curious about other dogs. While she’s still overcoming a bit of nervousness, her soft nature and willingness to connect suggest she’ll blossom in a patient, loving home. Easy to leash, walks like a dream with zero pulling, and happy to just chill alongside you. Her energy may be a little low because of her cold, but she perked up to play with a squeaky toy in the yard, chasing it a few times then coming back for some pets and love. She loves treats, takes them gently, and responds well to baby talk! She's a sweet, gentle soul who will bring so much soft love and joy to someone's home. Per staff 8/10: "Sadie Girl was timid while walking through the kennel but immediately perked up once we got outside. She trotted a bit in front of me slightly tugging on the leash but otherwise kept a good pace with me. In her meet she very quickly melted into the person and was very steerable with high value treats." Per staff 8/10: Playgroup notes, "Sadie girl was steerable with water, semi with can, good greetings, helper (making corrections and social), high tail wags, timid, curious and very tolerant" Per staff 8/8: Very good girl. She easily came out of kennel but walked slow, coughing a lot when she first came out. By the time we got towards the back of the kennels she picked up the pace a bit. She greeted the other dog and licked her hind end and ear. Walking back to kennel she was slow again, but picked up the pace when I trotted next to her and baby talked to her. She went right back into kennel and allowed me to remove the leash with no issues. Per staff 8/7: No reaction when seeing Andy Anderson walk by. Gentle, timid, afraid to leave and enter kennel. Per volunteer 8/5: Barked at dog being walked on street. Snuggle bud, enjoyed playing with toys. Per volunteer 8/4: Easy and sweet. Per volunteer 8/3: A+++. Loves affection, butt scratches, and belly rubs. Easy/great walker, loose leash/no pull, loves to walk slow + smell. Per volunteer 8/2: I took Sadie out and immediately fell in love with her. She is so gentle, so good on a leash and so so calm. She went to the bathroom immediately and then after that we just strolled around. She has some definite skin issues going on, and she has a bit of a cold so we steered clear of everyone . But we did sit and watch all the dogs in the big play yard. She was so calm — just an observer for sure . She’s not interested in toys or treats. But she’ll stand by you for a very long time ….just observing. Skin issues tbd. One way or another other , she would be a great foster, rescue, or better yet - adopted right into her new home. Per volunteer 8/1: Sweet, easy. Per staff 7/31: Saw other dog, no issue. Gentle, timid, enjoys just sniffing. Per volunteer 7/29: Saw dog through fence, tail wag. So easy walked right back into crate. Per staff 7/27: Kennel presentation: Sitting in the crate with mouth closed, head slightly tilted to the side, soft eyes, and ears to the side. Took treats gently and was easy to leash. Leash skills: Walked on a loose leash and did a lot of sniffing. Tail down, moving loosely, ears to the side. Sociability: When I would pet her, she would freeze slightly, avert her head and eyes and lean away. With a hand over her head, she would duck her head slightly. I offered some treats which she took gently, and she loosened up a lot and became very loose and wiggly, soliciting attention and petting and allowed me to handle her all over and check her teeth with tail, low, wagging loosely, soft eyes and ears Play: no interest Dog interaction: Passed by a small dog, oriented towards the dog and pulled slightly with low tail and ears up, and quickly disengaged as we remained there, and I spoke to the other handler. Returned to kennel: easy Color level: green Per volunteer 7/24: Very calm, walks nicely on leash, good dog, knows sit. Per finder 7/23: Friendly and shy. MEDICAL: On 8/8 staff noted: "Complicated URI Plan Clindamycin 300mg PO BID x 14 days and extend Enro dose to match Clindas end date On 8/5, Sadie Girl received a vet exam for dry, flaky skin. She had diffuse dry flaky skin and was itchy. Douxo mousse was applied to the affected areas." On 7/25, Sadie Girl was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on doxycycline. She tested negative for penumovirus. On 8/4, she was noted to have a complicated URI and was prescribed enrofloxacin in addition to the doxycycline. On 8/8, Sadie Girl’s URI signs had not yet resolved. She was prescribed clindamycin and her course of enrofloxacin was extended. She is on both medications until 8/22. During her intake exam on 7/25, Sadie Girl weighed 57.9 pounds and was noted to be in ideal body condition. Her eyes, nose, and coat were clean, her ears were very waxy, and her teeth had light staining. - Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately.
