My story

Dior Jewel is a beautiful, sensitive soul who's still learning the world doesn’t have to be so scary. New experiences make her nervous, but her gentle spirit shines through when given time and patience. Leashing can be a bit intimidating for Dior Jewel, but once out, she walks with a loose leash and does her best to process her surroundings. Her body language shows she's still learning to trust, and she appreciates a calm, steady approach. With time outside, she began to relax slightly, even accepting treats and showing interest in sniffing her environment. Socially, Dior Jewel is more of an observer than a participant. She would likely thrive as the only pet in a calm, structured home where she can decompress and feel safe. This girl doesn’t need a bustling household or constant stimulation; she needs a patient, understanding person who’s willing to move at her pace and celebrate the small wins. Come meet her at ACCT Philly, open daily from 10 am to 6pm VIDEO Meeting Zeus: https://youtube.com/shorts/iAWOB-8_w9A?si=222OdYabZPqTEkbZ Dior and Zeus 2: https://youtube.com/shorts/NuDlhOY7QkE?si=tTd1uEtQCUDVjqfD BEHAVIOR Per volunteer 7/25: When Dior Jewel first came ro acct she was a very shy girl who didn't want to come of her kennel. When I went to take her out she had been at acct 3 days and still hadn't been outside. I sat down in the her kennel door way and tossed some treats to her which she tool very easily and before long she was taking treats from my hand .then she let me leash her and out we went for a nice walk . She let me pat her and although she was fine with accepting the pats her tail was a bit stiff . She went right back into her kennel easily. When I took her out the next day a big change has come over her . She came to the front of her kennel when she saw me and let me leash her immediately. Also once out , when I patted her , her tail was wagging nice and loosely now during the pats . She really got comfortable with me in only one day .she has totally come out of her shell and she's a very sweet girl now who comes back into her kennel easily now Volunteer 7/24/25: Dior met me at the her kennel door with soft eyes and a high tail wag. She was easy to leash and pulled only slightly on our way out of the kennels. She didn’t accept any of the treats I had but come over for pets and back scratches. She leaned against me as I was crouched down with her and even gave me a few kisses. She went back into her kennel easily. Very sweet, slow-paced girl. 07/22/2025 Kennel presentation: Standing in the kennel with tail down, ears to the side, furrowed brow. Leash skills: Backing up from the leash with wide eyes, ears forward, tail down and still. Offered treats and ate them, tried to put treats in the leash and she avoided that. Ultimately decided to close her off to one side of the kennel and lasso her. She dodged the lasso a few times and did slow head whips to loosen the leash, once leashed she walked on a loose leash. Eyes darting, hunkered tense body. Shake off once we got outside Sociability: I let her 5 times on her back, she was unfazed and did not solicit attention. She sniffed, walked and scanned her surroundings. Tail down, pilo erection, ears to the sir and flipping. About 3 minutes into our walk I leaned slightly to tighten the stopper on the slip leash. She froze, and I quickly removed my hands. Then I offered a treat and she ate it. Dog interaction: met Zeus thru the fence and on Leash. Initially seeing thru the fence she fixated, then ignored and sniffed, avoidant. Meeting on leash She was fixated, tense body, freezing, mouth closed, pilo erection, hair puffed on the tail. Fixated and highly alert. While she was sniffing Zeus sniffed her rear. She froze and very slowly began to raise her head. We moved him away and she walked away too. Play: did not do Return to kennel: She stopped at the gate, used mild leash pressure and treats to lure her in. Easy to remove the leash. Color level: blue ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details.
