My story

Animal Profile: Eugene is an approximately 6 year old 14lb male, Maltese mix joining us from Moreno Valley Animal Shelter in California on 7/13. We will share more about Eugene as we get to know her in foster care.  Foster Update:  Eugene is a very friendly, sweet dog that just wants to love up on you, play with his toys, and sniff all the sniffs. His gorgeous hair makes him low-shed, but does require regular proper grooming, which he seems to enjoy. He's quiet and calm in the car, confident (if pull-y) on walks, and friendly with people and dogs. He goes into his crate on his own and sleeps through the night, and is quiet in the crate if you're in the house. We are working on being quiet in the crate when left alone, but he's making good progress with that.  He's friendly but respectful to my two larger dogs and doesn't pester them. I think he would be happy in a house with or without another dog as he's more interested in people.    He's happy to spend his time sleeping at my feet while I work, but will pop up and bark a little if someone comes to the front door. He's quite smart and catches on to things quickly. We walked right past a cat (we're talking like two feet from the cat) and while he did look at the cat he showed absolutely no interest in it so may be cat-friendly. He is mild mannered around the other dogs in his resident home but seems to enjoy being around them.   A highly secure yard (or no yard/no free time in yard) is required. He is small, smart, fast,  bouncy, and high prey drive so if he can escape a yard to hunt rats/bunnies/squirrels he will likely find a way out if left to his own devices. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Moreno Valley in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on 7/13 via [Transport]. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.July 29, 2025, 12:58 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Eugene, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
