My story

Meet PaulieAfter surviving storms, fireworks, abuse, and Texas heat alone on a porch, Paulie is finally safe. Now, he is ready to find his forever home. This 10-year-old pup was found in Hockley, TX, where he had been living alone on someone’s porch for over a week. He wasn’t welcome there. Thankfully, when a kind person came to scan him for a chip during a storm, they saw what neglect and abuse Paulie was facing. They couldn’t leave him behind.Paulie’s microchip traced back to a humane society in New York, then to an owner in Kentucky who said a family member brought Paulie to Texas... and that he no longer wanted him.Despite everything, Paulie is sweet, spunky, and full of life. He loves long walks (his leash skills are stellar), squeaky toys, and being close to his person — though he prefers resting by your feet over sitting in your lap. He isn’t potty trained and wears diapers inside. Paulie thrives on structure, sleeps quietly in his crate at night, and is adjusting beautifully to a home routine. He’s loyal, full of personality, and ready to start over with someone who sees his worth. To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Paulie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
