I sure wish I had some great story to tell you about my past life. You know, a story where Iandamp;#39;m the hero, and I rescued my family from a burning building; or, I pulled the sled team alongside Balto, and we raced across the Alaskan tundra getting life saving medicine to sick children. Alas, I canandamp;#39;t tell you those stories because I think I just made them up.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;No, I was actually adopted from Great Plains four years ago, and once I went home, well, I lost touch with my friends here. Fast forward to today, and I came into the shelter again because my family moved away and deserted me at our house. I know for a fact it wasnandamp;#39;t me or anything I said or did. I think they just didnandamp;#39;t want the responsibility of a dog any longer so they abandoned me. Iandamp;#39;m over it, and I hold no grudges against humans because of them. I know that I need to open my heart to a new family, trust them, and that maybe this time - THIS TIME - they will love me and care for me until the end of my days. I want to be a member of a family and do my part to care and support and love all of those in it.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;I lucked out and have had the privilege of living in a foster home with a wonderful couple. They are so good to me, and in return, I have been nothing but a very good dog. I stick to my Foster Mom (FM) like a little bit of velcro. We have kissing sessions in the morning, belly rubs mid-morning, and a wonderful walk around the neighborhood whenever we want. My Foster Dad missed having a dog in the house, so they decided that fostering would be the way to go. He and FM say that, and I quote, andamp;quot;Kermit is the best foster dog we have ever hadandamp;quot;. I am perfect in the home, I am as sweet and loving as they come, and I even get to sleep in bed with them sometimes. They have a four-foot fence, and I donandamp;#39;t try to jump it or anything. What kind of dumbo would you have to be to jump a fence and leave this home and family? I love them with all my heart.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Iandamp;#39;m a calmer guy now than when I was at the shelter previously, more relaxed and mellow than before. Iandamp;#39;ve maybe gotten over some of my fears, and Iandamp;#39;ve learned that love is the most important thing in life. Love and smelling the roses on a daily basis. Oh and eating bonbons with someone you love on the couch watching a rom-com. I prefer affection and attention from my human(s) above all else. I want a home where I can hang my hat, climb into my bed, and drift off to sleep knowing that I have a safe and loving haven in which to live. Yes, Iandamp;#39;ve reached my senior years. And they are years to be enjoyed and savored - like a good book or fine wine. Honestly, I liken myself to a vintage bottle of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. We both have a smooth, velvety texture, we age gracefully over time, even improving as the years go by. Could you ask for anything more in a dog?andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;I hope that you are my person. I hope that you are reading about me and want to meet me. I so want my chance at a andamp;quot;happily ever afterandamp;quot;.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Love from Kermit (aka Kirby)andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Featuring photos by Krystle-Lee Photography
