My story

Russell is your typical yellow lab that wants to be with you all the time. This 6 3/4 year old boy weighs 74 pounds, gets along with dogs and cats, and is good with kids. In fact, his former family had a special needs child that he did great with. He knows basic commands like sit, shake, crate, and come. He will also potty on command when you use the words “hurry up”. He is learning to be gentle when taking treats from your hand and does well on a leash when the proper harness is used. He does not get the zoomies, whether inside or outside, nor does he dig holes in the yard. He is content to be a rug at your feet or in the room you’re in. He will also grab his favorite chew toy and go lay on his bed. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.
