My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. When you adopt 1 you save 2. The one you adopt and the one you make room for! CITY, STATE:  Shelbyville, TN NAME: Luna AGE:  6 yrs  (DOB 04/19/2019) SEX: Female WEIGHT: 11 lbs COLOR:  English Cream COAT: Smooth UP TO DATE:  Yes SPAYED/NEUTERED: Will be spayed after her PT for her back issues DHPP: Yes                DATE: 3 yr 04/16/25 RABIES: yes            DATE:  3 yr 03/26/2024 TAG NUMBER:  32849 ADOPTION FEE:  300.00+35.00(chip fee) HOUSETRAINED: Very strict Schedule or diaper CRATE TRAINED:  yes LEASH TRAINED: no FENCED YARD NEEDED:  yes a must SPECIAL NEEDS: Yes she is an IVDD dog and was not a candidate for surgery so we are teaching her to spine walk HOME W/ SMALL CHILDREN: NO only adult children HOME W/ OTHER DOGS:           MALE: yes         FEMALE: yes HOME W/ CATS:  No MICROCHIP BRAND and #:  AVID  839591112 MONTHLY HEARTWORM DATE:  17th each month FOSTER HOME:  Diane  allamericandachshundrescue@gmail.com RESCUE #: 2025-04-12-03 BIO:  Luna came from a breeder in NC when she went down in the back. We took her immediately to our specialty vet clinic and they determined that she was not a candidate for surgery. So we had to put her through PT to teach her to spine walk (Spinal walking (SW) occurs when a paralyzed dog with no pain sensation or feeling in their legs learns to walk and stand through reflex.) Luna is doing very well and is also getting Laser and Acupuncture. She will never walk normal but she has learned to walk instead of dragging her back legs. She is a very determined little lady and she deserves a home where they appreciate her wiliness to keep working to strengthen those legs. Our must haves for her are: A fenced in yard Someone home more than not Someone with IVDD experience Another small young dog for her to hang with No apartments, high rises or condos and she needs that fenced yard to get out and continue to strengthen her back leg and when out she is FAST Because of her back issue, please don’t just look at her coloring and want her for that, the adopter will need to have the experience of having a downed dog and knowing how to express a bladder. If you do not have this experience then please do not apply. If you do have the experience and want more info before applying for her you can email her foster mom aadrpresident@gmail.com and she’ll be happy to answer any questions that you have.     ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your 'new friend' get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
