My story

Meet Bertha – The Shoulder-Hopping Calico Explorer! 🐾🎨 Bertha is a 13-week-old calico cutie with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Born on April 15th, she’s spent her life growing up with her sister Tux, and the two of them are a bonded pair who love to explore the world side by side. Bertha is adventurous, athletic, and a little bit goofy. She loves climbing, chasing her soft catnip mice, and curling up in her favorite hammock for a well-deserved nap after a big play session. One of her silliest quirks? She adores being cradled on her back like a baby—and she’ll purr away while you do it! She’s also learning the fine art of shoulder riding, but since she’s still small, she mostly practices climbing up for quick shoulder snuggles (no walking around yet—she’s working her way up to that!). Unlike her sister, Bertha isn’t too interested in wet food, but she’s a happy little kibble muncher and is currently eating Acana First Feast kitten food. After a bout of tummy troubles, she discovered the joys of plain chicken breast—and she’d love to sample some of that again if you’re offering! Bertha would do best in a home without dogs or small children, but she could adjust to other cats if introduced slowly. She’s playful, curious, and communicative, and she’s happiest when she’s exploring new spaces or playing with her sister Tux, who has been her constant companion since birth. A Special Backstory 💛 Bertha’s story began when her mother, Cali, and her aunt, Clio, showed up on their foster family’s doorstep last summer as kittens themselves. By the time they were finally brought indoors this spring, both Cali and Clio were pregnant. Sadly, Bertha and Tux were the only two kittens to survive from Cali’s litter, and Clio passed away from pregnancy complications. Despite this heartbreaking start, Bertha and Tux have been a bright light in their foster home—and a source of healing for their mom, Cali. Bertha is a mini version of her mom, both in looks and in spirit, and she’s sure to bring joy, laughter, and love to her forever home. Interested in adopting Bertha and Tux?
