My story

Murphy is a 7-year-old survivor with a rough past and a heart full of love. He came to us through the Feral Cat Coalition after living on the streets — and he has the scars to prove it. With old and new scratches and a history of severe dental disease, Murphy has been through a lot. He’s since had nearly all of his teeth extracted and is feeling so much better now.Despite it all, Murphy is incredibly friendly and loves being around people. He enjoys playing with ping-pong balls, feather toys, and anything that rolls. He’s especially happy at mealtime — wet food is his favorite, but he also eats kibble (especially when softened with a little water).Murphy isn’t a fan of kittens and can get overstimulated, so he’d likely do best as the only cat in the home. He may be okay with a calm adult cat after a slow introduction, but he prefers a peaceful, predictable environment (he is done with his street cat ways)! If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, loyal companion with a bit of grit and a lot of love, Murphy might be your guy.Murphy is FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus positive) — meaning he may have a weakened immune system, but with proper care, FIV+ cats can live long, healthy, and happy lives. FIV is not contagious to humans or dogs and is only transmitted to other cats through deep bite wounds. Many FIV+ cats live peacefully with FIV-negative cats in stable, low-stress homes.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Murphy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
