My story

Say hello to Sundae! Sundae is an approximately three-year-old, 12-pound Dachshund mix female looking for her forever home through Chi Town Rescue. Sundae is a mama dog, who was originally found running the streets of Mexico as a pregnant stray. She was taken in by a rescue in Mexico City and had her puppy at that rescue. We are affiliated with the rescue owner in Mexico and help them out from time to time when their adoptions are slow and their facility is over-crowded. We took in mama Sundae and her puppy, Pupcicle. Sundae is shy but is warming up to us in the few weeks she has been at Chi Town. We have no doubt Sundae will absolutely blossom in a home, given a little time and patience. Sundae loves treats and they are definitely the key to her heart. She will take treats from your hand, then allows gentle pets, and eventually will allow you to pick her up. Soon she will be following you around and giving you shy tail wags. Sundae is curious and gentle and has a lot of love to give; she just has to feel comfortable in her surroundings and you have to earn her trust. Sundae does fine with other dogs she's met so far at the shelter and having another dog in her new home may help her to warm up faster in a new environment. If you have the patience and love to help a shy dog adjust to a new home (and a new country!), email us at chitownrescue@gmail.com for more information/meet and greet with Sundae. Sundae's adoption fee is $375 and includes spay surgery, vaccinations up to date including Rabies certificate, and microchip.July 16, 2025, 2:45 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sundae, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
