My story

APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application-pet-central-satx/ We must have an application to move forward. In foster in Lacey, WA. HICKORY was born 1/25/25. Hickory with his irresistable, kissable face is a small-but-mighty pup with a big heart! We believe he is a perfect mixed breed of Chihuahua and probably Dachshund. At 13 lbs he is the largest from his litter but still the perfect size to be a lap dog and adventure buddy rolled into one. We don’t expect him to get much bigger, maybe about 15-20#. ********************************************************************************************* Update from his fosters: Hickory is so much fun! We take him to the lake where he jumps right into the water and yes, he went paddle boarding! He’s happy, playful, and very affectionate with people after a very short introduction period. He is shy when meeting new people, but we’ve taken him to dog-friendly restaurants where he sits quietly on a lap (preferred) or the floor without complaint. Because of his shyness, he doesn’t show well at the adoption events which is why he hasn’t been scooped up yet. But if you will give him just one hour of your time you’ll have his whole heart! He is confident and playful with people he has met, and he loves dogs. LOVES THEM! We (his fosters) really want him to have a doggie sibling in his new home, as that seems to give him immediate confidence in any situation. As his foster mom, my favorite thing about Hickory – he is an excellent snuggler! He makes me late to work often because I just can’t put him down. He is affectionate with all of his (many) humans and foster dog brothers and sisters. As puppies go, he is really easy to take care of. ********************************************************************************************* You can also go to our Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Pet-Central-SATX-866684826744181/ and LIKE us to help us out. After we review your application, we will contact you, and you'll have the opportunity to find out more from their foster family or the rescue. If you experience any issues filling out the application you can contact us directly at shaynerescue@gmail.com. This is ONLY if you have problems applying. If you have not applied, you will not receive a response so please only email if you have any issues applying.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt HICKORY, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
