Ah yes, Selena — the dog equivalent of that one friend who somehow looks effortlessly flawless in sweatpants and never seems stressed, even when the world is on fire. She’s laid-back, sweet as pie, and so low-maintenance she makes a houseplant look demanding. No constant need for attention, no wild zoomies that turn your home into a racetrack — just a gentle soul who wants a comfy place to snooze and a human or two to quietly adore her. Looking for a chill companion who won’t judge your questionable life choices or force you into a fitness routine? Selena’s your girl. Meet Selena — a 4-year-old, 61-pound Great Pyrenees with a quiet strength and a heart full of resilience. Selena spent most of her life on her own, wandering from place to place with no real home to call her own. While kind people tried to help along the way, she was always on the move — until the day her journey came to a sudden stop. After being struck by a car, Selena was finally brought to safety, and that’s when we learned just how much she had been silently enduring. She was found with an old, open, and infected fracture in her left tarsus (ankle). It wasn’t new — in fact, it had been there for some time, likely causing her significant pain as she continued to roam. By the time she came into our care, the injury had deteriorated beyond repair. The infection had spread, and sadly, the leg had to be amputated. Through it all, Selena has remained the sweet and gentle soul we now know and love. She’s incredibly low-maintenance, calm, and easygoing — a quiet companion who asks for very little but gives so much in return. Her journey hasn’t been easy, but she’s finally safe, and now she’s ready to find the place she was meant to call home all along. Thanks to the Good Samaritans who stepped in when she needed them most, Selena is now part of the Pyr Paws and Fluffy Tails family — and we’re honored to help her start this new chapter. Selena is currently living the soft life in her foster home, and while she hasn’t officially mingled with the resident dogs (because, you know, missing a leg kind of puts a damper on roughhousing), she’s seen them and offered all the enthusiasm of someone watching grass grow. No drama, no real interest — just a calm “you do you” energy. Kids? Also a mystery. But based on her general vibe — quiet, chill, and completely unbothered — she’s probably not one to throw herself into a game of tag. More like the dog that watches from the sidelines, sighs dramatically, and wonders why tiny humans are always sticky. When it comes to meeting new people, we imagine that Selena is all about quiet charm. She’s not going to launch herself into your arms like a caffeinated Golden Retriever, but she’ll calmly walk over, politely introduce herself, and then ever-so-gently plop down right at your feet—clearly signaling that she’s now accepting gentle pets and adoration. Cats? Selena hasn’t had any formal introductions, but based on her overall vibe — calm, unbothered, and slightly above it all — we imagine her reaction would be something along the lines of, “Huh. You guys look weird. Anyway…” and then carrying on with her nap like nothing happened. Selena's energy level hovers somewhere between a sloth and a houseplant, so about a 2 out of 10. As a road trip buddy, she’s your dream co-pilot — silent, still, and definitely not trying to climb into your lap or scream at passing cows. Honestly, you might forget she’s in the car until you hear the soft thump of her plopping down at a new angle. Leash walks? Sure, she’ll go — but don’t expect her to set any land-speed records. Selena walks well… all things considered. She’s still adjusting to life as a tripod and to the whole concept of “walks” in general. Remember, this is a dog who used to roam the great outdoors like a mysterious lone ranger — no leash, no humans, no itinerary. Now suddenly she’s expected to stroll politely next to a person, wearing some bizarre contraption strapped to her body? It’s a lot. That said, she’s taking it all in stride. She moves along at a relaxed pace, occasionally pausing to contemplate things like curbs, crosswalks, and whether this “walking together instead of alone” thing is a permanent gig. Temperament-wise, she’s a dream. Quiet, sweet, and so undemanding that we occasionally check to make sure she’s not just a very realistic plush toy. She enjoys a good ear scratch but won’t beg for attention — she’s far too dignified for that. Potty trained? Yes. Crate trained? Yes, though she will make you work for that entry. Overall, she’s a professional lounger with zero plans to audition for anything involving "high energy." As for adventures, let’s just say she’s not campaigning for “Outdoor Enthusiast of the Year.” Right now, her hobbies include healing up and perfecting the art of lounging. Her idea of a good time is finding a cozy spot to nap and graciously accepting the occasional ear scratch. If you’re living the chill life — apartment, condo, or simply a house with a strong “we don’t do chaos here” policy — Selena would fit in perfectly. She’s calm, sweet, healing, and basically just here to bring peace and extra fluff to your household. Potty trained? Absolutely. Selena handles her business like a responsible adult and expects the same from her humans. Crate time, however, is where the polite negotiations begin. She will go in the kennel — eventually — but don’t expect her to volunteer as tribute. You’ll get the stubborn side-eye, followed by the “fine, but only because you asked nicely” shuffle. As for barking… well, we’re still waiting to confirm she actually can make noise. Not a single woof, grumble, or dramatic sigh. She’s either saving her voice for something truly important or just prefers to express herself through silence and soulful stares. And chewing? Not her thing. She’s far too dignified for that kind of juvenile nonsense. Your shoes, furniture, and baseboards are safe in her serene presence. She’s not here to destroy your stuff — she’s here to sleep near it. Right now, Selena is in full recovery mode — and honestly, she’s handling it like a champ. Let’s not forget, this girl has been through the wringer: living who-knows-how-long with a broken and infected leg, undergoing amputation, and getting spayed shortly after. That’s a lot for one dog to process, both physically and emotionally. So if she’s spending most of her time laying around, soaking up love, and napping like it’s her full-time job… well, she’s earned it. That said, what you’re seeing now might not be the full picture. As she continues to heal — not just from surgery, but from a life of surviving on her own — she may start to open up more. We could see some gentle playfulness emerge, maybe even the occasional zoomie (tripod style). Or… she might remain a perpetually calm, oversized cloud pillow who lives for belly rubs and quiet companionship. It could go either way, and that’s the beauty of watching her blossom. Long story short: don’t adopt her expecting a permanent sloth. But also don’t adopt her thinking she’s going to morph into your next hiking buddy. Adopt her because you’re ready to meet her where she is and where she’s going — wherever that may be. Be ready to love her through the snoozy days, the playful surprises, and everything in between. So, if you’re sitting there thinking, “Wow, I’ve always dreamed of sharing my life with a low-drama, emotionally evolved cloud in dog form,” then congratulations — Selena might just be your soulmate. But remember: this magical marshmallow doesn’t come with delivery. You’ll need to physically haul yourself to Tulsa, OK to meet her majesty in person. Yes, actual pants will be required.
