We love Bug, and we know you will too! Bug is estimated to be around 7 years old and is a dignified cutie eager for love. He is a mellow middle-aged guy who is way past the crazy puppy phase of life and looking for a family to enjoy sunbathing and walking around the neighborhood with. He could be a great first dog for someone who doesn't want to go through all the training with a puppy, but still wants a dog to take on adventures. Bug is fully grown and weighs about 25lbs. Bug came to us from a local shelter after his owner was no longer able to care for him. He was very stressed by the chaos of being in a kennel all day, and has settled wonderfully into foster care. Bug is very much a mystery mutt, but he seems to have a deep hound-like bark. Bug is an affectionate guy who loves to be by your side. He is a perfect mix of clingy and independent and is happy to lounge on the couch while you get work done. After a long day, he will love to cuddle up in your lap and give you kisses, and he is a great partner for movie marathons. He is a big fan of plush blankets and soft, squeaky toys. He is a gentle boy who enjoys the simple things in life. Bug knows some basic commands, like sit, and has good house manners, but would benefit from some basic training to help him be the best boy he can be. Bug has done well living with other dogs (big, small, old, and young) and seems like he would appreciate living with other pups, but also could do well as a spoiled only dog. Bug has been doing great ignoring the cats in his foster home, and could be a perfect fit to live with cats who are new to dogs or are older and need a mellow dog roommate. We haven't seen Bug around kids, but he might do well with kids 10 years and older. Bug has been doing great with his housetraining, but does seem to have a few accidents while he is adjusting to a new place and routine. Bug is happy to sleep through the night next to you, either in bed or on a dog bed. He hasn't been left alone much yet, so he will need a family with a flexible schedule who can slowly acclimate him to being home alone. Bug is such a wonderful little man, and he can't wait to start his new life with her forever family. If you think that might be you, submit an application today! Bug's adoption fee is $250. Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/ Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org) It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. July 14, 2025, 7:20 pm
