Please contact Kallie Brennan (kallieb@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet. DAVID HASSELHOP NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet David Hasselhop and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (07/27) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring, MD (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)! Name: David Hasselhop Best Guess for Breed: Lab and whippet mix Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of May 2025 Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 23 lbs Gets Along With: He does well with other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living At: DC area foster home David Hasselhop is Looking For: His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this sweetie landed in the shelter. He's eager to once again have his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up - gotta burn off all that awesome young-dog energy! He'd love to make pup and people pals along the way. Quality kibble, cushy dog bed, chew dog toys - yes, please, to all those. But above all he wants to be safe and loved, to know where he belongs - and upon whom to bestow all those happy tail wags, to whom to pledge loyal companionship. Is that going to be you? Is he the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: 'David Hasselhop is the sweetest and most handsome boy! He’s always happy, wagging his tail at everyone he meets , super friendly and full of charm. Despite being a small pup, he’s bursting with energy and loves playing fetch -there’s definitely some retriever in him! He’s more than content to soak up attention from his humans. He seems very comfortable around city noises, loud sounds, and people running by - nothing fazes him. On walks so far he’s obedient, doesn’t pull on the leash, and stays by your side. He's eager to please and start learning commands, and adorable through and through. Any family would be lucky to have him!' Special Adoption Considerations: David Hasselhop is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. David Hasselhop has completed the treatment and activity restriction phase, and is awaiting his six month follow up test. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
