My story

Marta is a 6 year old German Shepherd. She weighs about 45 lbs. She was purchased as a companion for our younger German Shepherd male. She loves to chew on her toy bones. She is a little smaller in stature than dogs her age. She is mild tempered, but very alert inside the house. She is always aware of any strangers at the front door. She is microchipped and up to date on all vaccines. She is very healthy. She was adopted from an abusive home. She was under weight and scared of everything. Over the last year with training and love, she has blossomed into a great house dog. Marta has a very even energy level. Inside she is well mannered. She like being outside to run. She will often sprint circles around our pool outside. She is crate trained. She stays in it over night and when no one is home. She is leash trained. She likes walks at night or in the morning. She is usually walked 1.25 miles about three times a week. She does not bark outside at people or other animals. She only barks inside when someone is at the door. She would be great for a couple or single person looking for a companion. She also travels well in in the car. She doesnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t mind laying in the floor and rarely gets on the furniture. She will sit on command and knows down in German. We are looking to rehome her because we recently had to put down our border collie for bladder stones. They were not able to do surgery for them. This has caused her to be a little down, so we thought a new home might help her. We are close to retiring and wanted to travel more, so we wanted to provide a more stable home for her to continue to thrive. She is good with other dogs and cats. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Marta, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
