My story

Meet Percy – The Gentle Soul Looking for Love! Percy joined the Freedom Frenchie Rescue squad from a Southern California shelter, where he was found as a stray with wounds on his neck and cheek. This brave little guy underwent surgery to treat an abscess and spent time recovering from a severe upper respiratory infection. Despite everything he’s been through, Percy is healing well and slowly learning to trust again. Personality Tinks: At just 21 pounds, Percy is a compact, solid little guy with a calm and gentle nature. He enjoys lounging outside in the sun or shade and will let you know when he’s ready to come back inside. He listens well, doesn’t mind being in his crate, and has the most adorable gurgly howl when he wants attention or needs to go outside. Percy is still overcoming the emotional scars of his past. He crouches low when approached and becomes stiff when picked up, but each day, he makes small steps toward trust. His foster mom says his dark, soulful eyes reflect his innocence and sweetness. Because energy is everything for Percy, his ideal home must be a positive, uplifting environment where he feels safe. Foster Pupdate: Percy is quiet unless he needs something he likes to just chill on his own and watch all the other fosters. He loves to lay in the morning sun and enjoys listening to the birds. We introduced him to yak bones, and he really enjoys them. We are still learning about him as he is still learning about us, but he is starting to understand his schedule and he is being vocal about having to go out and go potty. Behavior Spotlight: While he shows zero aggression, Percy does resource guard his food when eating in his crate. However, with proper guidance, he does well when eating around other dogs. He absolutely loves food and treats, which can be a great motivator as he continues to gain confidence. Home Needs: Percy needs a patient and loving home that will help him blossom into the happy, secure pup he was always meant to be. If you’re ready to give this gentle soul a second chance, apply to adopt Percy today! He is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered you can apply for Percy on our website at freedomfrenchierescue.org. Please go over our adoption process, his adoption donation fee is $1000.00

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Percy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
