My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:5Meet Ghirardelli, a 7-year-old, 63-pound German Shepherd with a curious spirit, playful energy, and an unexpected soft side. Like the fine chocolate he’s named after, this guy has layers—independent at first, but surprisingly sweet once he warms up. Sniffari specialist: Ghirardelli loves to take his time exploring the world with his nose. Walks are part adventure, part investigation. Treat-savvy (with flair): He knows how to sit for treats, though his excitement might sometimes make him a bit jumpy, like a goofy puppy in a grown-up Shepherd body. Sneaky affectionate: At first, he may seem reserved, but once he trusts you, he leans in close for scritches and pets, soaking up attention like it’s his favorite snack. Ball chaser extraordinaire: Ghirardelli loves to chase tennis balls, though he’s not always into giving them back (unless you tempt him with a second one, of course). While he enjoys his solo explorations, Ghirardelli may do well with a compatible dog buddy or thrive as the only dog in a home that respects his independent streak.
