Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! From the foster: Homer (486) is a chocolate coated bundle of best-friend-forever material who just so happens to also be an irresistible Aussie Shepherd mix puppy. His foster mama is a bit heartbroken that she already has a houseful and is at max capacity, otherwise she'd adopt him in a blink. (Seriously, may cry a little when he goes off to his new family.) So that means, this little guy is going to need a very special home who can appreciate all of his best traits, and help guide him through what we affectionately refer to as the "velociraptor" stage of puppyhood, to his full potential of most loyal and wonderful dog ever. Don't worry, the velociraptor stage mostly involves adorable chaos, not actual dino attacks. One of the best things about Homer is that he'll come running full speed when you call him and land smack in your lap and slurp your face. Every. Time. Makes you feel like you've won the lottery, or at least a lifetime supply of doggy kisses. He is always where you are and ""assisting"" with whatever you are doing. Homer loves to play outside and we do a lot of that. He has the BEST zoomies - multiple times a day and it really helps to burn off his abundance of energy. Typical for the breed, he does get nibbly and will often grab for your pant leg when chasing around, so please be prepared to redirect him and help him learn appropriate play (and maybe plan on wearing your old sweats when out in the yard for a while rather than your favorite pair of pants). He is the happiest boy, always wagging his tail and thrilled to see you, and is quite confident in new environments as well. Homie is fostered with three of his littermates, and will often stand up to them, especially when food or a special treat is involved. If you have other dogs in the home, you'll want to make a special effort to feed him separately and continue to reassure him that there is no need to worry about his next meal. He is also fostered with three large resident dogs and is fairly respectful of their space when they ask for it. There are two little boys in his foster home as well (ages 6 and 3) and they mutually adore each other, and Homer even seems to be needing less and less reminders to keep his paws on the ground rather than jump up to lick faces. If you're looking for a high-energy smarty pup to share your adventures, and perhaps your snacks (he'll definitely try to "assist" with those too), Homer might be your guy. Just be prepared to have your heart stolen and your life filled with happy chaos! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
