My story

Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! From the foster: No doubt, Juneau has grabbed your attention due to his gorgeous merle coat and blue flecked eye, but there is so much more to this handsome boy. He's got the looks, the smarts, and the high energy and drive that you'd expect of the typical Aussie Shepherd breed - but is affectionate and silly too. A true joy to be around, and he'll keep you entertained for hours! We have been fostering him with three of his littermates and are head over heels for them all. Juneau is the most independent of the siblings, and can also be a little bossy to his brothers - sometimes using his status as biggest bro to squash and chew on them, but has been very respectful of the three large resident dogs. He's pretty confident in new situations and seems to be very well rounded, not too much phases him. He is fostered with two young children as well so that may be part of it, he's used to - and even seems to revel in the loud, fast, and constant action around him. Though, fair warning, he often needs reminders not to "herd" his human playmates by giving them nibbles. We're pretty sure he thinks he's just being helpful, but apparently, human ankles aren't part of the flock. Herding breeds are known for their desire to nip and herd, so some specific training on redirecting that instinct will be essential to his success in a home with small kids. We've started with him and he's doing great so far, but as a youngster, just like the rest of his training and housebreaking, it'll be a continued process until he's a bit older and more mature. As clever as he is, we know he'll pick things up quickly as long as you can put the time in to show him the ropes. We play outside a lot and he is very good at relieving himself there when given the opportunity. He keeps his crate and pen clean during the day as long as he is taken out regularly, and sleeps in a crate with his siblings overnight with access to newspaper/potty pads and uses them when needed. He is very food motivated and loves to chase toys, tugging is a big favorite too! Juneau is a catch for sure, we know he's going to bring so much happiness (and a good amount of mischief) to his new family. If you're ready for daily doses of zoomies, snuggles, and slobbery kisses, you may be ready for Juneau to come home with you! Prepare for a life filled with laughter, loyalty, dog hair, and the occasional attempt to herd your houseguests. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
