Name:  Buccee        Best Guess for Breed:  Border collie and retriever mix Best Guess for Age:   2.5 years as of July 2025       SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  46 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   PR shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here! Special adoption considerations:  Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Buccee would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.   You gotta see this video - what a friendly pup! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/wtAtm5_1ltMBuccee is Looking For: His forever home! Lucky Dog staff and volunteers met this handsome guy in Ponce while on a rescue trip in Puerto Rico. He has lived his entire life outdoors in a shopping center there and is super sweet and loving with people. People who knew him were thrilled when he was rescued.   Buccee is a very friendly guy who wants nothing more than to be safe and loved for all his days - to get to be with people AND under his own roof - AND always know where his next meal is coming from. And he has so much to give in return - so much love, so much loyal companionship. If that's what you're looking for - reach out! What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
