Meet Poli! Poli is a curious, adventurous little guy who’s always up for exploring his surroundings. Once he gets to know you, he becomes your devoted sidekick—loyal, cuddly, and never far from your side. He walks well on a leash and loves taking his time to sniff every patch of grass along the way. He can safely walk down stairs but may need a little help going back up. Poli adores affection and will happily soak up pets and cuddles—he even gives kisses in return! He’s a great mix of social and independent, equally content spending time with his people or relaxing on his own. He gets along well with other dogs and peacefully shares space (and even food bowls!) with his foster sibling, Lupo. While he hasn’t been tested with cats or children, we think he would do fine with gentle, respectful kids. Poli is adjusting well to home life and sleeps peacefully through the night—sometimes in his bed, sometimes on the floor. He’s making progress with potty training; he mostly goes outside but still has occasional accidents and marks indoors. His marking is expected to improve after his upcoming neuter. He may be a little unsure around new people at first but warms up quickly with kindness and patience. Grooming is still a work in progress—he can be a bit nippy during brushing, so a gentle touch is best. Poli is sweet, spunky, and full of potential. With time, consistency, and a loving home, he’s going to make an incredible companion. ----- A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters: Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means: ✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment. ✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing). ✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed. The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like. Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are. Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type. ----- Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lupo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
