CARROT NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Carrot and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (7/13) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!   Name: Carrot     Best Guess for Breed: Wheaten Terrier/Terrier   Best Guess for Age:  2 Years as of 4/25    Gender:  Female Approximate Weight:  27.6 pounds Gets Along With:    other dogs, We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living At:  DMV Foster! Special Adoption Considerations: Carrot was heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Carrot is Looking For: Her furever family! She knows they're somewhere here and can't wait to meet them. She's got so much on her wish list - sniffy walks by her humans' side, quality kibble, a cushy dog bed, and lots and lots of snuggles and cuddles! Carrot has an old injury causing her to limp.  She gets along just fine and there is no surgical correction that would address her issue, but we are happy to chat with you about future options and management for her.  Her sweetness far outweighs her physical challenges. Carrot may be small but the love in her heart for her humans is enormous. She can't wait to bestow upon her family all the adoring gazes and little tail wags and loving companionship she's storing up for them! What do you say? Can you see her trotting down there by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: She is super sweet, affectionate, and gentle with my kids. The leg injury does slow her down some, but she can is playful and can jump on the couch and navigate stairs.
