My story

From the Foster Home: Monica is doing well in our home. She is crate trained, sleeps quietly at night or if I need to crate her for an hour or so during the day. She is a happy goofy dog that makes us all laugh. She did great with our cat on leash, but will half heartedly chase in our yard. I would say she is great with cats- because she stopped chasing when I called her back and she is not aggressive at all. Tug of war is her favorite game, not really interested in sticks or balls. She plays hard with dogs, and some don’t appreciate that. But she has found her match with a friends young cattle dog and they play hard together. A joy to watch! She walks well on a leash when the trail is empty, but will pull to greet dogs/people when in a crowded area. She needs to learn some manners- gets mouthy during play but it is very age appropriate and I can redirect her with her toys. She does bark to alert but does not bark endlessly inside the home. She did great with her nail trim and the fireworks. She rides well in the car. Wants to be in front seat. I haven’t left her in car because of the heat, so I can’t speak to her behavior when left alone in car. She has peed in our house, which is very common with dogs from the kennel- I am learning her cues better and as long as I get her out routinely she does well with going to the bathroom outside. My goats and chickens are behind fencing- she is interested in playing with both. Goats would teach her manners- chickens might get hurt. No real interest in our Guinea pigs. We all really like this dog. She just needs some manners but she is treat, and relationship motivated- she wants to please and looks to me for approval/reassurance- so I think she will make an excellent dog for her forever family. The dog adoption fee is $90. They come spayed/neutered, microchipped, first set of vaccines including DAPP (parvo combo), Bordatella (kennel cough), have been dewormed with Pyrantel, and have been treated with selamectin for fleas. Our website updates every hour, but some animals may be adopted faster than we can get them updated online. If you`d like to check on the status of an animal, please call us at 360-352-2510. This is especially important if you are viewing this animal on any site other than Animal Services` website.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Monica, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
