My story

Five Little Hearts Ready for Their First Real Home Lab Mix Puppies Seeking the Love They've Never Known These five precious Lab mix puppies arrived at our Northeast Iowa shelter after a long 12-hour van ride from a southern pound, and they're still getting their bearings in this new world. At 2 months old, these sweet babies have never experienced the warmth and comfort of a real home – but they're ready to learn what love feels like. Their Story So Far Born on April 20th in a city pound in the South, these puppies have spent their entire short lives on concrete floors in cages. As the pound staff told us with heavy hearts, "Our hearts broke daily seeing them on concrete in a cage." Despite this difficult start, their spirits remain unbroken, and their capacity for love and trust is remarkable. The journey north was long and unfamiliar, leaving them a little unsure about their new surroundings. But even in their uncertainty, their friendly nature shines through – a testament to the resilience and hope that puppies carry in their hearts. What We're Learning About Them Since we just met these little ones yesterday, we're still getting to know each unique personality. What we do know is that despite everything they've been through, they remain wonderfully friendly and eager to connect. They're cautious but curious, taking in all the new sights, sounds, and smells of shelter life – their first step toward discovering what the world beyond concrete walls has to offer. At 2 months old, they're at the perfect age to learn that life can be soft, warm, and full of love. They're ready to discover what it means to have quiet place to snuggle up with their new family. Ready for Their Chance in a Real Home These five brave little souls have never known the comfort of a home, but they're ready to learn. They need patient, loving families who can show them that the world is full of good things – soft blankets, belly rubs, safe spaces to play, and most importantly, people who will love them unconditionally. Each puppy represents a fresh start, a chance to experience family for the first time, and the promise of a beautiful future ahead. While they may be a little unsure right now, we know that with the right families, they'll blossom into the amazing companions they're meant to be. A New Beginning Awaits These puppies are writing their story one day at a time, and we're honored to be part of their journey from concrete cages to loving homes. They're ready to discover what home really means, and we're looking for families ready to teach them. Fill out our adoption form to learn more about giving one of these special Lab mix puppies their very first taste of home. They've been waiting their whole lives for you.
