This sweet senior Basset girl is full of personality and charm. True to her breed, she’s a little stubborn, a little independent, and very good at letting you know what she wants- especially when it’s mealtime or treat time. She thrives on routine and enjoys a calm, predictable home where she can lounge near her people and keep an eye on the world from the window. She’s good with kids, well-mannered indoors, crate trained, and has lived as the only pet, but she’s always happy to soak up attention from visiting guests. She’s not much for long walks these days, but she still enjoys the little things in life- like her favorite chew at 11 a.m. sharp. _________________________________________________ Do you have a heart for the seniors? An easy final place to live out the golden years? Well, then Duchess needs you. 🥺 Her parents are moving due to their own age, and unfortunately, Duchess isn’t going to be able to make the move with them. She is 13, spayed and fully up to date on everything. They took great care of her, and this post is about finding her final home, not expressing our personal opinions about rehoming an elderly dog. Please keep that in mind when commenting. 💕 Our goal is to move her from current home to final home without foster(s) in between to make this transition as smooth as possible. Duchess is a mellow, routine-loving senior who thrives on structure, soft spots to nap, and being right on schedule for meals and snacks. She’s independent but affectionate, and her Basset stubbornness comes through in charming ways- like reminding you when it’s time for her C.E.T. chew or dinner. She enjoys visitors and attention but hasn't lived with other animals, so she'd do best with calm introductions. With her age and mild arthritis, she appreciates cozy bedding and a low-key lifestyle. Like many dogs with long ears, she’s prone to ear infections and benefits from regular cleanings to keep her comfortable. Duchess hasn’t lived with other animals, so we can’t say for certain how she’d react- but she doesn’t seem like the type to go looking for trouble. She’s a big fan of snacks, naps, and a solid routine, so she’d likely do best with calm dogs who won’t interrupt her scheduled loafing. Slow intros are always a good idea so everyone has time to acclimate at their own pace. If interested, please apply here: https://airtable.com/shrZ5FB5fJtV0Rooc
