Meet Cricket. This sweet senior pup came into rescue from a difficult situation—her previous owner was battling addiction and eventually became homeless. Thankfully, a compassionate local groomer had been keeping an eye on Cricket and stepped in when it became clear her owner could no longer care for her. Cricket was long overdue for veterinary care, but we’re happy to share that she’s now healthy and thriving. She tested negative for heartworm (a huge relief), was spayed, had multiple mammary tumors removed and biopsied, and underwent extensive dental work, including several extractions. The best news? All of her tumors were benign, and she is now fully recovered and pain-free. For the past two months, Cricket has been enjoying the comfort and security of a loving foster home with her foster mom, Donna, and her three dogs—two small pups and one big pittie named Kane. She integrated into the pack with ease, bonding especially well with the smaller dogs and tolerating Kane’s playful attempts with quiet dignity. Cricket has a calm, laid-back energy and enjoys long naps and occasional cuddle sessions. She’s got a little spunk in her, too, and truly delights in outings. Whether it’s a car ride or just a walk to the mailbox, her joy is contagious. She walks well on leash; she’s not fast, but she stays right by your side. = We think Cricket would love a calm canine companion in her new home. She’s not looking for a playmate, just another friendly pup to keep her company. She can get anxious when left completely alone, but settles in nicely when her foster pack is nearby. Cricket had done well with potty training and follows the other dogs outside for breaks. She’s not a fan of the crate - she’ll cry and howl when crated, but she does just fine being left out and has earned Donna’s trust. At night, she sleeps soundly snuggled up next to her person and never makes a peep. She’s also very quiet overall and not much of a barker. Cricket is a social, gentle senior who loves meeting new people and soaking up attention. She will make a wonderful sidekick and a sweet addition to any home looking to give a deserving senior girl her second chance. Coming to town in late July....Apply today!
