Looking for a calm, loving companion who’s great with kids, other animals, and total strangers alike? Meet Maximilian, a mellow, affectionate pit mix with a heart as big as his name.Max recently spent the day out of the shelter, and to say he was a joy is an understatement. He had multiple interactions with children ranging in age from two to eight years old and handled it all like a total pro—nonchalant, friendly, and quietly interested in their presence. Whether they were petting him or right up close to his face, Max remained relaxed and happy, clearly enjoying the attention. He’d make a fantastic addition to a family with kids.Max is the definition of a low-key cuddlebug. He enjoys being pet, held, and even picked up! This boy lives for affection and is highly motivated by snuggles (not treats). He’s the kind of dog who will happily curl up next to you on the couch or snooze peacefully nearby while you go about your day. During his foster field trip, he even wore little doggy shoes—and didn’t mind one bit!After a chill hour at the park, Max went home with his foster for a break and fell asleep almost immediately. He was so comfortable that when his foster stepped out to check the mail, Max didn’t even bother to get up—just lounged like a king awaiting more love.He’s also had calm, appropriate interactions with other dogs and even horses, proving just how adaptable and gentle he really is.
