My story

Meet Oliver Dean – The Sweet, Sleepy Gentleman Who Will Steal Your Heart Quick Facts: Breed: Shih Tzu Age: 9 years Weight: 12 lbs House-Trained: Almost completely Crate-Trained: Not needed – can be left alone without issue Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Older/respectful children only Energy Level: Low Fence Required: No Special Traits: Loves to sleep in, masters the “puppy eyes” routine, and enjoys being pampered Why You’ll Love Oliver Dean: Sweet, calm, and incredibly low maintenance Friendly with other pets and easygoing around new people Low energy – prefers lounging to long walks Excellent on a leash for short, easy strolls Has the most expressive eyes that will melt your heart (and convince you to lift him onto the couch) The ultimate nap buddy for a laid-back home About Oliver Dean’s Breed: Shih Tzus are affectionate, easygoing companions who were bred to be lap dogs—and Oliver Dean takes that job very seriously. With his adorable squishy face, soft coat, and soulful eyes, he’s all about comfort, companionship, and cuddles. Oliver Dean’s Story & Personality: Oliver Dean is the definition of a chill companion. At 9 years old, this distinguished gentleman has perfected the art of relaxation. He enjoys the simple pleasures: cozying up on the couch, sleeping in late, and using his sweet little eyes to coax you into giving him just a bit more love—or a lift onto the bed. While he’s fully content being left alone when needed and doesn’t require a crate, he’s happiest when you're around. He’s great with other dogs, gets along well with cats, and would likely be fine in a home with older, respectful children who understand the pace and needs of a senior dog. He’s nearly housebroken and doing wonderfully with a routine. He’s leash trained and enjoys short walks, but don’t expect him to be your jogging buddy—this guy is all about laid-back living. Oliver Dean’s Ideal Home: An easygoing home, possibly with older adults or someone seeking a calm, low-energy companion An adopter who’s happy to help him onto the couch (even though he secretly can do it himself!) A family who will enjoy slow mornings and lazy afternoons together Apartment-friendly and great for small-space living Another friendly pet or two would be fine, but not required Ready to Welcome a Laid-Back Lovebug into Your Life? Oliver Dean is looking for a soft place to land and a warm heart to call his own. He doesn’t ask for much—just a little help onto the couch, some company, and lots of snuggles. If you're looking for a loyal companion to share your quiet moments with, Oliver Dean is your guy. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. To ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We provide transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!July 9, 2025, 11:39 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Oliver Dean, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
