My story

Rafa is a sweet, beautiful girl, 2 years old and weighing 50 pounds, with a heart of gold that needs a gentle hand to fully open. Her golden coat and loving eyes suggest a mix of breeds like German Shepherd or Golden Retriever, but it is her resilient spirit that truly defines her.Rafa has been through a traumatic past, and as a result, she is skittish and nervous. It takes her a longer time to become comfortable in new environments and with new people. She is seeking a very special and patient person who is dedicated to helping her overcome her trauma and build confidence. Her new family will need to understand that this is a long journey that requires commitment, patience, and a calm, predictable environment.In the three months Rafa has been in her foster home, she has come so far. With the right owner, we believe she will continue to blossom on a daily basis.An incredibly gentle soul, Rafa shows absolutely no aggression, even when she is scared. When she feels threatened or cornered, her natural instinct is to become submissive and roll over onto her back. This gentle nature makes her a safe and wonderful dog for someone willing to work with her.She is a very smart girl who is crate trained and potty trained, and she is already learning her leash manners very quickly. This shows her willingness to learn and her potential to become a well-adjusted companion once she feels safe.We believe she would do well as an only dog, receiving all the attention and focus of her owner. However, she might also benefit from having a confident and stable dog companion to help her feel more at ease and to share the transition into a new home.Rafa is looking for a quiet home and a dedicated person who can give her the time and unconditional love she needs to blossom. She is a dog who will give you so much in return once she learns to trust you.
