My story

Please contact Stephanie (hillvinemont@aol.com) for more information about this pet. COURTESY POST FOR ANOTHER RESCUE!  Pete is a less than one year old, very fancy miniature parti-poodle (white with black) who lost a leg when it was badly broken and multiple attempts to save the leg were unsuccessful, making little Pete an amputee.  Pete is doing very well as a tripod and can do anything he wants to do.  He is friendly, very well socialized, neutered, fully vaccinated and has been on monthly heartworm and flea prevention since he was 8 weeks old.  Amputations have always been expensive, however, vet fees are now at an all time high.  Saving Pete was definitely worth all the expense and extra TLC it required.  This little guy is happy, healthy and well adjusted to his new reality.  Pete is pain free and thriving.  His tax deductible adoption fee is $1200, and does not cover his vet bill by hundreds of dollars.  Please do not rake Pete's rescue over the coals about his adoption fee.  It is what it is and cannot be reduced.  Adoption fees have funded the rescue's efforts to save many thousands of dogs and puppies for the past 20 years.  Times are hard.  All rescues and shelters are in crisis, including this one.  Not many people could afford Pete's fee, but there are others who could and would, who prefer to support a rescue saving lives vs paying a breeder thousands of dollars for an unvetted pup.  Yes, people do it all the time and brag about it as they rant about paying hundreds for a fully vetted rescue pup. Ask a breeder what happens to the puppies not sold before being deemed not young enough, small enough or socialized enough to warrant their price tag.  I have certainly had my eyes opened wide recently and it makes me sick.  Thank God for rescues. Pete's medical record accompanies him....  July 8, 2025, 8:53 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pete, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
