My story

Raine was adopted from the Los Angeles County Baldwin Park Shelter as a 2-yr-old in 2024 by a young family. All was well until a new baby was born, who Raine thought was a toy! Things went from “trying” to “bad” when the baby became more mobile and a target for pouncing! Raine is a Jack Russel Terrier mix. She has all the exuberant non-stop energy of a Jack Russel, but is also quite affectionate and snugly. She loves wrestle-mania and tug-of-war with her foster brothers and sisters, both smaller and same-sized. She seems a little intimidated by her slightly larger foster brother, but there is no aggression. Raine is a jumper and can easily go 3 feet vertical from a standstill, but for the most part, she is respectful about jumping in or out of enclosures. Raine walks well on a leash, although pulls a little. She likes to ride in the car. She sleeps quietly through the night next to her foster mom. Her house training is reliable if she has access to a dog door and a secure yard. Raine loves her food, so care will need to be given to keep her svelte figure and so she doesn’t scoop up another dogs’ food! Raine has a strong terrier drive to chase little beings, as her previous owners discovered! She gets excited when the bunnies are on the move in their enclosure, and barks at the cats in the catio. She also teases her smaller (and older) foster brothers and sisters, but is readily corrected. After one or two corrections, Raine moves on. Raine would do best in a household with a similarly energetic dog, or with people who will get her out on a daily basis for a long walk or run! She will need to be taught the rules of the house with a firm hand! Raine’s vaccines are up-to-date. She’s neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in Raine, please contact Jean by phone or text 714-803-0154

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Raine/Courtesy Post, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
