My story

If you’ve been searching for the velvet hippo of your dreams, look no further than Sunshine. Her name couldn’t be any more perfect for her and you can’t have a bad day when you wake up and say “Good morning Sunshine”. There’s something really special about Sunshine. She seems to understand that our other foster requires a bit more care and waits until the other dog has her food bowl before she starts eating. She also doesn’t interfere in feeding time and waits patiently for the other foster to finish. Sunshine is an absolute doll, with beautiful, soulful eyes and a stunning blue/gray coat. She’s completely housebroken and lets you know when she needs to go out, listens well and sleeps through the night always wanting to touch you. Sunshine has started to show interest in some of the stuffed animals and harder chew toys but has not destroyed any of them. She’s been left alone, uncrated, without incident and rarely barks but does warn of stranger danger. Sunshine rides perfectly in the car so road trips may be in her future. She’s a bit shy at first but once she warms up, she’ll follow you everywhere. She’s a super happy girl and as her tail can be considered a weapon when unleashed, if there are children, they should be older so everyone can remain friends. She loves apples, pineapple and even lettuce although she’s not a fan of cucumbers. While she gets along with the other foster, it’s advised that if you have other pets in the house, a slow introduction will be needed. Sunshine is a confident gal who would be a great addition to any family. Sunshine would do well in any type of household and she definitely needs to be an inside dog as she needs, and thrives on, companionship. She would enjoy a fenced yard and somewhere to safely sniff around but walks would also work for her. She’ll need a bit of leash work but she’s a fast learner. Sunshine is a really sweet girl and will share all the love and happiness she has.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sunshine, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
