My story

Raven/ Female / 4 Years / 66lbs / Rottweiler / Good with Dogs / Untested with Kids / Not Good with Cats / From Hamilton/ Fostered in Hamilton Meet Raven, a gentle, soulful Rottweiler with a heart as big as her puppy-dog eyes. Found as a stray—underweight and with worn-down teeth—Raven has blossomed in foster care and is now ready to find her forever home. Raven is a laid-back companion who enjoys the simple things in life: leisurely walks, snuffle mats, frozen treats, and quietly chewing on plush toys. While she’s not into fetch or energetic play, she’s happiest just being near her people—curled up beside you or keeping you company from her favorite cozy spot. She can be a little shy in new situations or with unfamiliar people, often hanging back at first. But with gentle encouragement (and treats!), she warms up beautifully. Raven isn’t fazed by city noises, traffic, or skateboards, and thrives in a calm environment with predictable routines. Although she hasn't lived with children, her patient and tolerant nature suggests she could do well with respectful, dog-savvy kids who allow her the space and time to settle in. Raven would do best in a quiet home—house or townhouse, with or without a yard—ideally with people who are home often or work remotely. She forms strong bonds with her humans and would thrive with a low-key, patient family willing to support her confidence-building journey. She currently coexists peacefully with a calm dog in her foster home but doesn’t seek out much interaction. She could happily live with another mellow dog or be your one-and-only. Due to her strong prey drive, a cat-free home is required. With moderate energy levels, Raven enjoys two 30-minute walks per day. She walks well on leash, though she may pull toward squirrels or cats, so a confident handler is recommended. She’s not reactive to other dogs or people on walks and prefers quieter, less busy routes. Raven is fully housetrained, sleeps through the night on her dog bed, and is content being left alone for up to five hours. She’s quiet, well-mannered, and non-destructive—though she does have a curious nose, so be sure to keep the garbage secured! She knows “sit,” is highly food-motivated, and responds well to gentle, reward-based training. Raven would benefit from continued basic training and confidence-building, but she’s a quick study. She’s not crate trained but does very well with free roam of a safe space and has shown no signs of separation anxiety. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-maintenance, and quietly affectionate dog who will reward your patience with deep trust and love, Raven may be just the one you’ve been waiting for. Our vet noted a possible heart murmur, which will need follow-up, but she is currently symptom-free. Raven's 4dx came back positive for Lyme Disease; her urine test was negative for protein meaning that Raven has been exposed to Lyme disease but isn't shedding it. She is currently asymptomatic and may be for many years. It is recommended that Raven have her urine checked yearly. Raven also needs to be spayed (currently booked for July 21), if adopted F+R will still cover the spay if done at LAH. If you’re interested in adopting Raven, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Raven’s adoption fee is $850.
