My story

Meet Juliet, the stunning long haired beauty! She is looking for a retirement home to live out her golden years in. After her guardian passed away, Juliet came to the Shelter with some of her feline friends. Although transition the Shelter can be tough for cats, Juliet has handled it all with grace. Staff have observed that she has been social, friendly and easy to handle. When clinic staff gave her a grooming to remove some matts, she was head butting for pets and lifting her butt in the air (aka elevator butt). She handled her spa-day like a champ! Juliet has a history of living with other easy going cats and may do well joining a home with resident mellow animals after a slow introduction and management. Typical to a cat her age, Juliet has some medical needs that are typical to senior kitties. Her adopter should anticipate more frequent vet visits (which can need above average resources of time, patience and money). Juliet`s adoption fee is sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation thanks to “Leave No One Behind fund” – designed to adopter’s eyes towards animals who have been in the Shelter’s care a little longer than average waiting for the right adopter.Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
